Apply for the Canon Student Development Programme 2023

Are you a student with a passion for photography? The Canon Student Development Programme is here to help you take your skills to the next level and become a professional photographer. This exciting opportunity is available to students across Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

The programme is divided into three modules:

Module 1 – May 29th – June 30th: During May and June, 100 lucky students will receive three online sessions with professional mentors who will provide personalized feedback and guidance on how to enhance their portfolio.

Module 2 – September 2nd – 6th: In September, up to 30 students will have the chance to attend an exclusive 5-day workshop in Girona, Spain, and Perpignan, France. This module offers practical sessions, portfolio reviews, and inspirational talks by renowned photographers and editors. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to attend the Visa pour l’Image festival of photojournalism.

Module 3 – September 15th – 17th: The top 5 students will be selected to participate in the Hamburg Portfolio Review, an exclusive event reserved for the most talented students.

Requirements for Canon Student Development Programme 

To qualify for the programme, you need to meet the following eligibility criteria: Firstly, you must be 18 years or older by April 16, 2023. Secondly, you should be a current student or intern or have recently completed your course in the academic year 2022-23.

It’s worth noting that while the programme is open to individuals across Europe, Middle East and Africa, participants must have a good command of English to be able to fully participate. Adequate proficiency in English is necessary for effective communication during the programme.

Steps to Apply Canon Student Development Programme

• If you’re interested and meet the qualifications, you can apply for the Canon Student Development Programme by visiting Canon’s website at en.canon-cna.com.
• fill out the form and submit your portfolio, which should consist of up to 20 images each from a maximum of two projects.
• include a description of your project(s), image captions, and a personal bio. Please note that your portfolio must fall within the genre of photojournalism or documentary photography.

The deadline for submissions is 16 April 2023, and we will notify the 100 accepted participants by 5 May 2023. You will need to provide ID for entry into the programme.
