Accessing University of the South – Brightspace Sewanee Portal
The University of the South – Brightspace Sewanee Portal is a learning management system (LMS) powered by Desire2Learn (D2L). It can be used for developing online courses or for supplementing on-campus courses. The University of the South’s Brightspace automatically contains a course site with a class roster, communication, collaboration, content delivery, and student assessment capabilities for every course in the schedule.
This LMS is equipped with fantastic features that can make work easier for instructors and students alike. The features include:
- A home page for each course with announcements and customizable widgets
- Online self-assessments, quizzes, and exams
- Threaded discussions
- Document storage, sharing, and management
- Course event calendars
- Grade books
- An ePortfolio
- Integrations with Microsoft Teams, Panopto lecture capture, H5P, and many publishers
- Brightspace allows students to access course content for their courses, submit assignments, participate in discussions, communicate with the instructor and classmates, take quizzes and exams, among other things
- To operate Brightspace, an Internet connection, Java, and up-to-date browsers and operating systems are required. System requirements must be reviewed to determine the compatibility of your computer with Brightspace.
Upon request, Brightspace sites are also available for other University purposes, including hosting content for committees, research teams, student groups, or departments.
