The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is a college of the State University of New York system. FIT offers degrees in fashion, business, design, technology, and other creative and applied arts. FIT has been offering online courses since 2007.
FIT Brightspace is an innovative learning management system (LMS) used by the institution for creating, hosting, and editing online learning resources. It contains a flexible suite of tools for creating custom content for institutions, courses, and users.
Brightspace is an online learning or course management system that supports sharing learning resources, student collaboration, learning assessment, and multiple means of communication between course members. FIT is currently using Portal. Brightspace requires an Internet connection, Java, and is compatible with most browsers and operating systems. Interested users are advised to review the system requirements to determine if their system is compatible with Brightspace.
FIT uses Brightspace to deliver course content for its fully online courses. Much of the content for mixed-mode or hybrid courses is also available through Brightspace. Additionally, many face-to-face classes utilize Brightspace for various reasons as well.
Brightspace allows students to access course content for their courses, submit assignments, participate in discussions, communicate with the instructor and classmates, take quizzes and exams, and more. The LMS is accessible to all students and faculty members at FIT.
How to Access FIT Brightspace
To access FIT Brightspace, follow these steps:
- Visit the FIT Website and click on the Menu Icon
- Locate Faculty Academic Support
- Under Faculty Academic Support, click on Brightspace LMS
- On the Brightspace Homepage, click on fitnyc.open.suny.edu.
How to Login to FIT Brightspace
To log in to FIT Brightspace, follow these steps:
- Access the FIT Brightspace
- Enter your Username
- Provide your Password
- Click on the Login Button to Proceed
Resetting FIT Brightspace Password
If you have forgotten your FIT Brightspace password, follow these steps:
- Visit the FIT Brightspace login page
- Click on Forgot Password
- On the page that appears, enter your username and password to be able to access the Reset Password Portal
