Responsibilities

  • Resolve intricate customer support tickets which may involve Linux servers, source code, and web application issues
  • Articulate technical information to customers and engineering teams at GitHub in a clear and effective manner
  • Collaborate with customers in advance on tasks such as scheduling upgrades, informing them about new features, and ensuring that their system is functioning properly
  • Detect and report any bugs and enhancements in the GitHub Enterprise codebase
  • Manage urgent customer outages during regular business hours

Minimum Qualifications for the GitHub Support Engineer III Role

  • Basic knowledge of the functioning of modern web applications
  • Past experience in providing technical support
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Familiarity with at least one type of production-level virtual machine (such as VMware ESX, Xen, KVM)
  • Keenness to work directly with clients
  • Superb English and grammatical skills
