When Government Secondary Technical School, currently known as Obuasi Senior High Technical, first opened its doors in November 1965, 33 boys were enrolled.
Obuasi Senior High Technical School was formally a males-only school run by the Ministry of Education on land kindly supplied by the then-Asante Goldfields.
Girls were allowed to enroll in the school after the new educational reforms were put in place. The school was established in 1965 and is situated in Koffikrom, a municipality in Obuasi.
