The UONGOZI Institute hosts the Leadership Essay Competition every year to give African youth and the region’s future leaders a platform to participate in crucial discussions on leadership and sustainable development.
Seven competitions have been held since 2013. The UONGOZI Institute (UI) will use this blog as a casual venue to disseminate information and promote idea exchange for those on the continent and beyond.
Qualifications for Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership Scholarship at UONGOZI Institute
- The candidate must have at least five years of managerial or senior expert experience
- an undergraduate degree
- advanced proficiency in spoken and written English; superior computer skills
- proficiency in academic paper writing.
Advantages of Postgraduate Certificate in Leadership Scholarship at UONGOZI Institute
The cost of tuition is EUR 8,000. To enable as many leaders as possible to earn this esteemed degree, UONGOZI Institute provides a small number of merit-based scholarships, including 50% and full tuition awards.

covering letter of one page
A short essay (450–500 words) outlining the applicant’s leadership accomplishments, difficulties, and reasons for applying to the program
reference letter with the candidate’s and their sponsor’s signatures attesting to their sponsoring commitment
Original academic certificates’ certified copies (May be verified with issuing institution if need be)
letter from the employer assuring complete participation in the program by the applicant
