An applicant for admission to a degree programme at the University of Ghana must have at least six credits; A1-C6 in WASSCE or A-D in SSSC in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science (for Science applicants), or Social Studies (for non-Science applicants).
Applicants must also have three elective subjects in Science if applying to Science or Agriculture related disciplines, or three elective subjects in General Arts/Business if applying to non-Science related disciplines, with a total aggregate of no more than 24 for full-time programs. The total aggregate for Distance Learning should not exceed 30
Furthermore, Science applicants must have a C6 in WASSCE (D in SSSCE) in Social Studies/Life Skills, and non-Science applicants must have a C6 in WASSCE (D in SSSCE) in Integrated Science/Core Science.

To obtain an application e-voucher, simply follow these four simple steps:
- On all networks, enter *887*9#.
- Enter UG.
- Authorize payment.
- After successful payment, the user receives an e-voucher via SMS
If the user does not receive an SMS after completing the transaction successfully, they can retrieve the e-voucher by following the steps below:
- To obtain an E-Voucher: Dial *887*18#
- Choose “Yes” and then “Retrieve E-Voucher”
- The E-Voucher’s details are displayed (ie University of Ghana, Serial Number, and PIN)
