We would like to extend an invitation to all interested individuals to apply for the United Nations Graduate Study Programme 2023 Portal. The programme provides an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain valuable work experience and enhance their skills in an international and dynamic work environment.

United Nations Graduate Study Programme Benefits

The United Nations Graduate Study Programme is currently open for application, and the good news is that there are no charges involved in the process. However, it’s important to note that the United Nations does not provide any financial aid to cover the costs of visas, travel, accommodation, or meals for successful applicants. There’s still a ray of hope, as external bodies like universities, private foundations, governments, charities, and companies may provide financial grants to eligible participants.

United Nations Graduate Study Programme Qualification Requirements

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. It is also recommended that applicants possess knowledge of French as some discussions may be held in French.
  • Applicants should be aged between 22 and 32 years at the time of application. To be considered for the programme, applicants must be enrolled in a master’s degree, a postgraduate degree, or a doctorate programme at the time of application.
  • Proof of enrolment must be submitted. Individuals who are already employed full-time are not eligible to apply for the programme.
  • Those who have previously participated in the Graduate Study Programme are not eligible to apply for the current edition of the programme.

The date, process, and location of the interview for the United Nations Graduate Study Programme

The Selection Committee applies the following criteria when making decisions:

  • Extracurricular activities
  • Geographical and gender balance
  • Knowledge of both English and French, the Programme’s two working languages
  • How the Programme would contribute to the applicant’s career

To allow more students to participate in the Programme, the Selection Committee does not consider applicants who have previously participated in the Graduate Study Programme. Each application is evaluated on an individual basis. The Selection Committee’s decision is final and cannot be challenged or appealed.

Required Documents

In order to complete the application for the United Nations Graduate Study Programme, applicants must submit several required documents on our website:

  1. A copy of the applicant’s passport
  2. A letter of recommendation from a university or governmental authority, written in either English or French
  3. Proof of current enrollment in a master’s degree, postgraduate degree, or doctorate program at the time of application
  4. Copies of previous university diplomas obtained
  5. A current curriculum vitae
  6. A short motivation letter, no longer than 300 words, outlining the applicant’s reasons for applying to the programme.
