We are excited to announce that the online application for the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) 2023 Prize for Literature is now open. The prize awards up to $100,000 to deserving winners. Below are the requirements for the online application process:

NLNG Literature Award Benefit

The $100,000 Nigeria LNG (NLNG) 2023 Prize for Literature competition is exclusively open to published works by Nigerian writers, regardless of their place of residence.

Eligibility for NLNG Literature Award Qualification

If you’re interested in qualifying for the NLNG Literature Award, make sure to follow the requirements outlined below.

First, you must obtain an application form from The Nigeria Prizes website, www.thenigeriaprizes.org, and complete it. The form should be printed and submitted alongside twelve (12) copies of your published work and an e-copy, along with evidence of Nigerian citizenship such as a photocopy of your Nigerian passport or National Identity Card. The deadline for submission will also be indicated on the website.

Note that you can only submit one published work, and it must not have been previously submitted for this competition, even if you’ve made significant revisions or published a new edition. The prize is strictly awarded based on the excellence of the work.

Additionally, you won’t be eligible to participate in the award if you’re a member of the Advisory Board or Panel of Judges during the award period or two years thereafter. Also, staff of Nigeria LNG and their families cannot submit entries.

About the Interview for the NLNG Literature Award

The Nigeria Prize for Literature has appointed a panel of judges and an advisory board to oversee the competition. The judges have been selected to represent the genre in competition for the year and possess extensive experience, peer recognition, good public image, and national and international respect. The panel of judges is chaired by Professor Ameh Dennis Akoh, and the other members are Prof. Osita Catherine Ezewnanebe, Dr. Racheeda Liman, and international consultant Prof. Victor K Yankah.

The advisory board is chaired by Prof. Akachi Adimora Ezeigbo, FNAL FLSN, with members including Professor Olu Obafemi, FNAL NNOM, and Professor Ahmen Yerima, FNAL FSONTA.

The interview date and venue for the competition have not been announced yet. The judges will assess the entries based on their excellence and will award the prize for no other reason. Any entries that fail to meet the stated conditions will be disqualified.

The following documents are required to complete the application process:

  1. Evidence of Nigerian citizenship, which can be shown through a Nigerian passport or National Identity Card.
  2. A scanned passport-sized photograph of the applicant.
