The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Doyen Institute of Intelligence and Investigation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost security awareness in Ghana. The agreement requires the Doyen Institute to provide training materials and logistics to train NCCE staff in anti-kidnapping, anti-terrorism, anti-human trafficking, and technology security, as well as home and office safety measures.

The Executive Director of the Doyen Institute, Mr. George Dosoo-Doyen, revealed that his institution would provide funding and other logistics and training materials for free for the security awareness program in the next two years, beginning January 1, this year.

He also disclosed that the Institute had trained personnel and staff in government institutions, including the Bank of Ghana and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, using its vast knowledge and expertise in security and intelligence over the past four years.

Mr. Dosoo-Doyen added that the Institute would work with the NCCE staff at the district, regional, and national levels for the training programme. The NCCE Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, Mr. Samuel Asare Akumoah, signed the MoU on behalf of the Commission.

The security awareness program is aimed at sensitizing and educating the public on security and safety tips, with NCCE staff equipped with security information and deployed to various public places like the market, churches, mosques, and chiefs’ palace to execute the task.

The Doyen Institute of Intelligence and Investigation, one of Africa’s cutting-edge security institutions, provides specialized professional programs in the field of investigations, criminal justice, criminal profiling, operational intelligence, security management, and cyber forensics.

In contrast, the NCCE is an independent non-partisan government institution established under Article 231 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.
