The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) houses the Regional Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre, Kumasi (RWESCK).

It began in 1998 as a project funded by the Dutch government to promote higher education in water supply and environmental sanitation. It extended to offer two master’s degrees in 2004 as part of phase two of the ‘Water Resources and Environmental Sanitation’ initiative.

RWESCK is part of the Africa Centres of Excellence (ACE) programme, which is funded by the World Bank and aims to help the Ghana government scale up higher education and research in water and sanitation.

KNUST Regional Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre

According to the School of Graduate Studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the successful candidate must have a minimum of:

  1. First or Second Class (Upper Division) in first degree
  2. Good Master’s degree in Water and Sanitation, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering (Soil and Water Engineering option), Civil Engineering (Water Resources/Hydrology option), Geomatic Engineering, Natural Resources, Mathematics, Geography, Chemical Engineering and other relevant disciplines, with an average of at least 60%. Submit academic transcripts.
  3. Candidates from non-Anglophone countries must have an internationally recognised Certificate of Proficiency in the English Language (TOEFL or British Council,IELTS) with above average score or be available to attend a three (3) months English language course at KNUST.
  4. Age Limit: 40 years or less.Candidates with one publication in a journal as first author have an advantage.
  5. Evidence of current and previous employment.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s (KNUST) Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre provides an excellent Sanitation Course. The Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre is a postgraduate course that requires a first degree in a comparable environmental topic from a recognized university.

Is D7 to F9 accepted to study Regional Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre Course at KNUST?

The Water and Environmental Sanitation Centre is a graduate-level program. A second classes higher first degree in a corresponding environmental course from any recognized university is required for admission.
