General Eligibility for Government of Romania Scholarship

  • Unless they are residents of an EU member state, foreigners come from every country in the world. Several scholarship options are available to foreigners with Romanian ancestry as well as members of the nearby historic Romanian communities.
  • The applicant must not be a member of the diplomatic corps accredited to Bucharest or a member of the family of the diplomatic corps accredited in Romania, and they must not have previously received a scholarship from the Romanian government for the same course of study.
  • They also cannot be a stateless person whose residence on Romanian territory is legally recognized.
  • The applicant for the scholarship must have study documents from accredited or recognized educational institutions and have good academic results, or an average of the study years of at least 7 (seven), according to the Romanian scoring system or the “Good” score, as applicable.
  • The scholarship applicant must not be older than 45 years old for doctoral or postgraduate studies and 35 years old for bachelor’s and master’s degrees as of December 31 of the year in which he or she was nominated.

How to Submit an Application for a Romanian Government Scholarship

  • First, go to https://www.mae.ro/en/node/10251 to the Romanian scholarship portal.
  • Candidates should submit their application files directly to the Romanian diplomatic missions accredited to their country of origin, place of residence, or the diplomatic mission of their state of origin accredited to Bucharest in order to obtain all the information they require about the scholarships (conditions, required documents, and the enrollment calendar), as well as to obtain more information about the scholarships.
  • English or French-language materials should be included in application files.
    There must be official translations in one of the following languages included with any papers in the application files that are not in English or French. English, French, or Romanian.
  • Usually speaking, Romanian colleges have the right to demand that all enrollment paperwork come with official copies and official translations in Romanian.
