• Coordinator, Construction Services

The Canadian government currently has a vacancy for the role of Coordinator, Construction Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and administering medium-complexity construction, professional services, and service contracts to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

On a daily basis, the Coordinator will engage in discussions and negotiations with contractors, consultants, and Client-Partners regarding work quality, scope changes, contract document interpretation, progress claim reviews, and other matters.

The job duties for this role include:

• Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and quality specifications by managing and administering contracts.
• Coordinating and resolving day-to-day contractual issues.
• Monitoring and controlling schedules.
• Liaising with Client-Partner representatives, negotiating and issuing change orders, and managing site activity records.
• Developing and maintaining effective relationships within DCC and with industry, Client-Partners, and stakeholders.

Qualifications and skills required for this role include:

• A college diploma in engineering, applied science, or a related field with four years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
• Certification in applicable fields, such as Certified Engineering Technologist, is preferred.
• Knowledge of best practices, methods, trends, and legislation in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of construction products and materials.
• Knowledge of project, contract, and risk management principles.
• Knowledge of health and safety management.

Qualifications Requirements:

• Must have experience in building positive relationships with external stakeholders or industry groups is preferred.
• Candidates with experience in alternate dispute resolution or mediation are encouraged to apply.

Requirements and Experiences 

• Completion of a post-secondary program (at least two years) in computer science, information technology, information management, or a related specialty applicable to the role is necessary. • Recent and substantial experience in one or more of the following IT/IM areas: Infrastructure/Operations, Application Development, Database and Data Administration, Security, Telecommunications, IT Project Management, and IT business line support (client relations)
• Recent and substantial experience in analyzing user IT requirements
• Recent and substantial experience in implementing, supporting, or testing IT solutions.
