Does University of Ghana offer nursing?

Currently, the University of Ghana offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program with options in the final year. Paediatrics Nursing, General Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Community Nursing, and Midwifery are the options.

Every academic year is divided into two semesters of 16 weeks each. Clinicals last 6 weeks at the end of each academic year and 3 weeks during each semester

Entry Requirements for Nursing

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program considers two types of applicants:

  • West African Senior High School Certificate or equivalent.
  • Holders of a Diploma in Nursing (enter at Level 200)

Requirements for the WASSCE Candidates

  2. Requirements for school

In addition to the aforementioned qualifications, applicants must have:

  1. Core courses must have a minimum grade of C6/D.
  2. A minimum of C6/D in all electives, preferably science electives.

Diploma Recipients

Admission will be granted to two types of diploma holders:

  1. Holders of a Diploma in Nursing Education/Administration from a recognized university should have a B+ average or upper second class.
  2. Holders of a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized nursing institution with a CGPA of at least 3.25.

Graduate Studies

The University of Ghana also offers Master of Science (MSc) and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programs in Nursing that last 12 and 24 months, respectively.The admissions candidate should have:

  • Nursing (BA/BSc) with a minimum of a second class lower division
  • You must be a registered nurse who has worked in nursing for at least two years.
  • Pass a preliminary interview

Does the University of Ghana accept D7 into nursing?

D7 is a pass, according to WAEC Result Interpretation. Besides this, the University of Ghana does not accept D7 as a prerequisite for admission to undergraduate programs. Remember that the lowest or worst grade you can get to get into Legon is C6.
