Demand for secondary education has increased as a result of higher completion rates at the lower secondary school level. In response, several new public schools were made available, while facilities were developed at existing schools. Trends in school enrolment from the Computer Schools Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) indicate some disparity in school selection. Students overwhelmingly choose popular but traditionally underperforming schools which leads to an oversubscription of these schools. Many of the schools that have improved significantly in recent years remain little known and undersubscribed. We believe that this anomaly is due in part to the lack of information available to students and parents.

DESCRIPTION

Bankoman Senior High was established as a Community Day Secondary school to provide secondary education for the students of Banko and the surrounding villages. It collapsed on three occasions until 2012 when it was absorbed into the Public system. The school is situated on about 90 acres land at Banko in the Sekyere Kumawu District of Ashanti Region. Unfortunately, there is no dormitory on the campus and students are living at a community Centre in town and have to be conveyed every morning to the school.
