WAEC/ GES is pleased to notify all esteemed School Heads, Parents, Students, and the general public regarding the upcoming registration schedule for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
As per the schedule, the registration process for BECE candidates will commence on Monday, 27th March and will continue until Friday, 28th April 2023. Moreover, the BECE for School and Private Candidates, 2023 will be held from Monday, 7th to Friday, 11th August 2023.
In addition, we would like to inform all stakeholders involved in the registration process that the Council will organize briefing sessions on Tuesday, 21st to Friday, 24th March 2023. Furthermore, eligible candidates can register themselves through the registration portal which will be accessible from Monday, 27th March to Friday, 28th April 2023.
Requirements
We would like to bring to your attention the eligibility criteria for the school candidates examination. We would like to remind you that only third-year students in Junior High Schools are eligible to appear for the examination.
Please note that it is strictly prohibited to register candidates who do not meet the eligibility criteria. This includes students who are in the first or second year of Junior High School and those who are not bornafide students of your school. Any violation of these rules and regulations could lead to the disqualification of your candidates.
We urge you to adhere to the guidelines set forth to ensure a fair and just examination process.
Process of Registration
Registration for the upcoming exam will be conducted in accordance with the following schedule:
- Capturing of personal information, subject selection, and photos of candidates: March 27th to April 28th, 2023
- Downloading and use of CASS software to capture scores and subsequently upload data online
- Downloading and use of School Choice software to select schools and subsequently upload data online

Kindly take note that selecting the appropriate subjects during the registration process is of utmost importance. We advise that you only finalize your registration data after ensuring that all necessary corrections have been made.
