The Northern Region ranks 15th in the District League Standings for 2021.

The Northern Region ranks as the 15th-best performing region in the 2021 District League Table with a score of 58.05 per cent (DLT).

The region surpassed all save the Savannah Region, despite the fact that three of its districts were among the 10 least effective Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the DLT.

These included the Tatali-Sangule, Nanton, and Nanumba South districts, which placed 258th, 260th, and 261st, respectively.

Greater Accra was rated as the best-performing region in the DLT with 72.37%, and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly was identified as the best-performing Assembly with 81.75 per cent.

They were a part of the DLT report, which was made public at a meeting in Tamale by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) and the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

To discuss their performances, attendees of the forum came from the numerous MMDAs in the area. The 2022 DLT was also introduced during the forum to kick off preparations for the annual report.

In order to reduce inequities among MMDAs, the report aimed to provide evidence and a foundation for distributing resources and social investments fairly. It is a tool for monitoring societal progress and showcasing district performance.

The ranking was based on 22 categories from many industries, including health, education, water, sanitation, energy, nutrition, and government.

Mr Isaac Kwasi Ewoeh, Principal Planning Analyst of NDPC, delivered the report during the forum. He claimed that the examination of each industry found variations across the MMDAs across the country.

The event attracted attendees from the numerous MMDAs in the area to talk about their performances. To start preparing for the annual report, the 2022 DLT was also introduced at the forum.
