Delay Is Not Denial, Trainee Allowance Paid

DELAY IS NOT DENIAL, TTA COMMENDS THE EFFORTS OF THE STUDENTS LOAN TRUST FUND FOR PAYING THE TRAINEE TEACHERS ALLOWANCE TODAY.

The outfit of the Teachers and Trainees Advocacy commends the Government, Ministry of Education and the Students Loan Trust Fund for paying the allowance of the Trainee Teachers including all arrears this morning.

The Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh in his address during one of the press briefings before he went into isolation made it crystal clear that the allowance of Trainee Teachers would be paid very soon after a question was posed by one journalist. He also emphasized the fact that the allowance will be paid considering only the schooling months, i.e 4 months which makes a semester.

Therefore should trainee teachers continue to stay at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic elapsing the semester, the additional months will not be accounted for during the payment.

Although, the allowance payment faced some delay probably due to the negative effect of the global pandemic, the Ministry of Education and the Students Loan Trust fund have honoured their promise of releasing the wherewithal and that deserves a great commendation especially considering these times the deadly virus, Coronavirus has taken parasitic control over our economy which has eventually dried up our wallets.

TTA speaks further to assure all trainee teachers and the entire citizenry of Ghana that the allowances as promised by the ruling government will not on any day be canceled as speculated by some shams in the media space. It’s well acknowledged that the payment could be late but it doesn’t mean the body in charge will shilly-shally the issue.
We are in this together.
Thank you.
