    2.1.3 Post Basic Programmes (BSc)                                                                           

    Requirements for Post Basic Nursing and Midwifery Programmes vary according to the programme of study. Programme specific requirements are given in Table 7 below.

    Age: Not more than 50 years, subject to medical fitness.

    COLLEGE OF HEALTH, KINTAMPO (CoHK)

    The College of Health and Wellbeing, Kintampo, formerly known as the Rural Health Training School runs about fourteen (14) different programmes. These programmes range from Certificate (Auxiliary) through to the Bachelors level and cover both preventive and curative health care. Some of the programmes are direct entry programmes (for SSSCE graduates) whilst others are Post basic Entry Programmes (for serving officers).

    Certificate as a   Field Technician  Nurse Assistant Preventive   (NAP)   Nurse Assistant Clinical   (NAC)   Health Records Assistant

    4.1.4 Diploma Community Mental Health – Two (2) Years

    (Previously Community Mental Health – One (1) year)

    SERVICE REQUIREMENT

    A practicing officer and must have served two (2) years minimum in deprived areas or three years minimum in non-deprived areas.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIRED

    Certificate as a Field Technician, Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAP), Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC), Health Records Assistant Environmental Health.

    NB: Foreign students may be considered for admission if they hold qualifications equivalent to those stated above, proved they are proficient in English, Equivalent qualifications include; A-levels, High School Certificate. Applicants will be required to pass an entrance examination before gaining admission to the programme.  

    Direct Entry BSc. Physician Assistant (Medical) –  (Four) 4 years

    Core Subjects and Minimum   Grades  Credits (A1 – C6) in three (3) Core Subjects i.e. English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science.  Credits (A- D) in three (3) Core Subjects i.e.   English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science.  
    Elective Subjects and   Minimum Grades  Credits (A1 – C6) in three (3) elective subjects the following: General Arts, General Science, Home  Economics (Food and Nutrition Option), and   Agricultural Science (excluding crop and animal husbandry).  Credits (A – D) in three elective subjects the following: General Arts, General Science,   Home Economics (Food and Nutrition   Option), and Agricultural Science  (excluding crop and animal husbandry).  

    NB: Foreign students may be considered for admission if they hold qualifications equivalent to those stated above and prove that they are proficient in English. Equivalent qualifications include; A-levels, High School Certificate, Bachelor’s Degree in Science (BSc.)  

    4.1.8 BSc. Physician Assistant Dental

             BSc. Physician Assistant Dental i. Registered Dental Surgery Assistants with two (2) years work experience will be         admitted to level 300    Certificate as a   1. Registered Dental Surgery Assistant.     

    NB: In the case of foreign students, their equivalent qualifications may be considered for admission by the college. The applicant should prove they are proficient in English.   

    NB: Applicants must add their research proposal to the Application Form when submitting 

    College of Health Yamfo (CoHY) – Academic Year Admissions

    1. Sandwich Degree Applicants  

    Post Basic applicants with the relevant qualifications can apply to pursue a sandwich  

    Degree programme in any of the following three (3) Bachelor of Science programmes;  

    • BSc. Community Mental Health  
    • BSc. Community Health (Nutrition option)  
    • BSc. Health Information Management  
    • Diploma/HND Holders  

    Entry Requirements   

    Interested applicants with any Professional Diploma in Technical Officer (Community Health-Disease Control & Surveillance Option, Community Health-Nutrition Option, Health Promotion and Social Marketing Option), Community Mental Health, Registered Community Health Nursing, Registered Mental Nursing and Registered General Nursing, HND in Biostatistics from accredited institutions with at least one (1) year Rotation/Internship/National Service, two(2) years working experience in a relevant basic area or one(1) year working experience upon a request from a facility after internship.   

    Successful Applicants will enroll at Level 300.  

    • Certificate Holders   

    Entry Requirements  

    i. Certificate Holders with credits (C6 or better) in English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science from West Africa Examination Council (WAEC)

    ii. Certificate Holders without credits (C6 or better) in English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science from West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) will have to pass an entrance examination based on an Access Curriculum, which will be accessible at www.cohy.edu.gh.  

    Interested applicants with Certificate in Field Technician, Nurse Assistant, Preventive (NAP), Community Health Nursing, Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC), Health Records Assistant and Environmental Health from accredited institutions with at least one (1) year Rotation/Internship/National Service, two(2) years working experience in a relevant basic area or one(1) year working experience upon a request from a facility after the internship, will have to pass an entrance examination to be conducted by the College of Health Yamfo.  

    Successful Applicants will enroll at Level 200.  

    All Certificate Applicants should visit the College website to enroll on a learning and assessment platform in preparation for the entrance examination.
