The Standard Four National Assessment (SFNA) results for the 2022/2023 academic year have been released by the Tanzania National Examinations Council (NECTA). The SFNA is a mandatory exam taken by all Standard Four students in Tanzania to evaluate their academic performance.
The results indicate an overall pass rate of 95.2%, which reflects an improvement in the academic performance of students in Tanzania. Dr. Joyce Ndalichako, the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, congratulated all the students who passed the exam and encouraged them to maintain their pursuit of academic excellence.
However, the NECTA has appealed to schools, parents, and guardians to support the students who did not pass the exam and motivate them to attempt it again next year.
The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) is a governmental institution established by the Parliamentary Act No. 21 of 1973. It is responsible for conducting all National Examinations in Tanzania.
The establishment of NECTA followed Tanzania Mainland’s decision to withdraw from the East African Examinations Council (EAEC) in April 1971 to conduct its own examinations. Zanzibar had pulled out of EAEC in 1970. Before the pull-out, Tanzania sat for foreign Secondary School Examinations conducted jointly by the East African Syndicate, which were previously conducted solely by the Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate.
The School Certificate and the Higher School Certificate Examinations were the examinations conducted by the Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate at that time. African students first took the School Certificate Examinations in 1947, and the Higher School Certificate in 1960.
The Standard Four Results for the 2022/2023 academic year have been released by NECTA.
