University of Ghana Legon 2018/2019 Undergraduate Admission Application

The University of Ghana, Legon, is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 2018/2019 academic year for various undergraduate programs. Below are the key details, application guidelines, and requirements for prospective applicants.

General Information for Applicants:

  • Eligibility:
    All prospective applicants are invited to apply, including those who will be writing the WASSCE (West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination) in May/June 2018.
  • Application Process:
    Applicants are required to complete the online application process. This can be done after purchasing the University of Ghana application e-voucher. The e-voucher can be obtained from designated banks, and applicants will receive a free copy of the University of Ghana prospectus upon purchase.
  • Choice of Programmes:
    Applicants can select up to four (4) programs in order of preference when applying.
  • For those applying to programs in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, direct admission is available.
  • Applicants to the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or B.Sc. Administration programs are strongly advised to select a Bachelor of Arts (BA) program as a second choice to improve their chances of admission.
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) Programme:
    Applicants to the BA program must choose from the list of subject bouquets provided. You are required to select up to four (4) subject bouquets, listed in order of preference. In the BA program, students must take the following course structure:
    • Level 100: Three (3) subjects
    • Level 200: Two (2) subjects
    • Level 300: Two (2) subjects
    • Level 400: One or two subjects (depending on the specialization)
  • Fee-Paying Option:
    Applicants who do not meet the competitive cut-off points for their preferred programs may choose the Fee-paying Scheme. Interested applicants must indicate their preference for this option on the application form.
  • Mature Students Admission:
    The University has reintroduced the Mature Students Admission for the Bachelor of Arts Distance Education (DE) program for the 2018/2019 academic year.

Application Procedure:

  • Online Application:
    All applications must be submitted online at the University of Ghana’s admissions portal: https://admission.ug.edu.gh. This requires the purchase of the e-voucher.

  • Previous University Students:
    Applicants who have previously attended or graduated from the University of Ghana (since 1996) should indicate their Student Identity Number on the application form. This number will be used if they are admitted.
  • Important Note on Admissions Process:
    The University of Ghana emphasizes the transparency of its admission process. Applicants are strongly advised to be cautious of anyone offering to assist in securing admission for a fee. The university does not tolerate such practices, and any such claims should be reported immediately.
