About UHAS Access Course
The Access course at the School of Allied Health Sciences is a nine (9) week program to enable applicants interested in a degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (for medical laboratory science); Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management / Food Science and Technology (for Dietetics) and Certificate in Osteopathy or Physiotherapy Assistant (for Physiotherapy) from accredited institutions for enrollment in degree programs (Sandwich). Applicants with an FGPA of at least 2.5 with at least three (3) years of approved work experience will enter degree programs in the College of Allied Health Sciences. The voucher codes are available for sale at GHS220.00 at Zenith Bank, Ghana Commercial Bank, ADB bank, and at any post office.
UHAS Access Course Entry Requirement
- All applicants MUST hold a certificate accredited by Nursing and Midwifery Council, Ghana
- Applicants MUST hold certificate(s) in any of the following: Community Health Nursing, Public Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing or HATS Certificate (EN), Midwifery certificate Post – CHN and Post – EN and Post HAC Midwifery
- Applicants MUST have practiced in their chosen fields for three (3) years or more.
- A holder of a diploma from a Ministry of Health Training Institution with a final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 2.00 or better may apply.
- A holder of a diploma in any Health Care discipline or Environmental Health discipline with a FGPA below 2.50 and has served in a Health Care position or an Environmental Health position for three years or more may apply.
- Applicants should upload a scanned copy of their Certificates, Professional Identification Number (PIN) or Auxiliary Identification Number (AIN), and their Academic Transcripts.
Access Course in the SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY is a programme to enable auxiliary Nurses, Midwives and Community Health Nurses who already hold certificates and Auxiliary Identification Numbers (AIN) or Professional Identification Numbers (PIN) in Post-basic Midwifery from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Ghana to enrol onto degree SANDWICH programmes in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. The point of entry will be Level 100 / 200 depending on the applicant’s professional background and choice of programme. Applicants MUST pass the Access Course examination before they are considered for admission into the SANDWICH programme which has the following options:
- Bachelor of Nursing
- Bachelor of Midwifery
- Bachelor of Public Health Nursing
SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH (SPH) – WORAWORA
The Access Course in the SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH is a five (5) week programme to enable interested applicants with the requisite entry requirements to enroll in a degree program (Sandwich) in the School of Public Health, after passing the Access Course examinations.
Successful Candidates will be enrolled at Level 200 of the SANDWICH programme in the Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) with the following options:
- Disease Control
- Health Information
- Health Promotion
- Nutrition
- Mental Health
- Environmental Health
How to Apply for UHAS Access Course Admissions
Applicants are required to read the ENTRY REQUIREMENTS carefully before proceeding to apply and they must use the UHAS online admission portal to apply.
- In completing the online form, applicants will be required to upload their passport-size photograph (not more than 400KB) with a white background.
- Upon completing the APPLICATION PROCESS, print three (3) copies of the PREVIEW PAGE (i.e. application summary), then submit online.
- Applicants are advised to check thoroughly all details entered before they finally submit their online applications. A form, once submitted cannot be edited.
- Upon printing the application summary; Access, Sandwich or equivalent applicants should attach 2 copies of each result slip; Access Course / Sandwich / MPhil /MPH / PHD applicants should attach their transcripts and certificates.
- Applicants should purchase UHAS EMS envelopes (one big size envelope and one quarto size self-address envelope) from the nearest Ghana Post office.
- The application documents and the result slips in addition to the quarto size self-addressed envelope should be put in the big UHAS EMS envelope and be submitted at the nearest Ghana Post office.
