Top Selling Electric Vehicles For Usage In Ghana

By | 10 March 2023

After being introduced to the local auto industry, electric automobiles in Ghana have become well-known. Below are the electronic vehicles that are most popular in Ghana.

Although they have not yet entirely taken over the market, they have been competing head-to-head with their gasoline equivalents, and the trajectory of technology and the near future indicate that they may do so in the next several years.

Electric automobiles are autos that run on batteries that have been charged by electricity rather than conventional petrol. As electric vehicles don’t require gasoline fuel, they don’t have an engine.

There are several electric vehicles, or EVs, as they are commonly referred as, that are generating enormous sales figures that demonstrate their viability. These electric vehicles are more comfortable, safe, and enjoyable to drive than some of their gasoline-powered competitors.

As of 2022, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best-selling electric automobiles on the market. The majority of these sales were reported in the US. Now let’s look at the EVs that will sell the most in 2022.

Top Selling Electric Vehicles For Usage In Ghana

Electric Hyundai Ioniq

One of the greatest EVs available is the Hyundai Ioniq, which targets middle-class buyers who desire an electric experience after spending years hearing engines rattle in their ears. The automobile has a tiny 38.3 kWh battery pack and can travel around 170 miles on a single full charge.

For those who think the 170 mile range is too short, there is also a hybrid plug-in version available. In the first quarter of 2021, 445 units of the EV Ioniq were sold.

The cost is $34,250.

ID.4 Volkswagen

Volkswagen is one of the most well-known brands in the world, but the automaker appears to have lost its luster among the younger generation of drivers. Despite being debuted in the United States in early March, the company’s ID.4 electric vehicle has already sold over 474 units.

Owners of the ID.4 will have 260 miles of range and a rear-wheel-drive experience. The initial model had 201 horsepower, but a 302 horsepower version will be available later.

The cost is $41,190.

Hyundai Kona Electric Vehicle

The Hyundai Kona has outsold its stablemate, the Ioniq, in terms of sales. With a greater battery capacity and a projected range of 258 miles vs the Ioniq’s 170 miles, we can see why the Kona sold more than the Ioniq in the same quarter of 2021.

Nonetheless, the Ioniq has larger cargo room than the Kona, which may affect purchase decisions.

The cost is $38,575

The Porsche Taycan

Here’s an EV that can be classified as a sports EV. The Taycan is made by German automaker Porsche and has a similar design to the Porsche 911, which costs $1 million (we know that’s out of your budget right now, so don’t worry).

Despite its high price, it sold over 2008 copies in the first quarter of 2021, and we expect that figure will continue to rise as people fall in love with the sleek design.

Porsche is the producer.

The cost is $81,250. Models with higher trim levels can cost up to $200,000.

The Audi E-Tron

The German automaker Audi’s e-Tron crossover has found more than 4000 homes since it was made available for purchase. It has a two-motor all-wheel drive system and 335 horsepower.

On a full charge, it has an estimated range of 222 miles, while the Sportback version has a range of 228 miles. You may later grumble about the price, but before you do, you should know that the interior of the Audi e-Tron is made of leather and real wood, rather than plastic.
