PTDF Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Postgraduate Study (Fully Funded)

The PTDF Overseas Scholarship Plan accepts applications from competent individuals for MSc and PhD programs at particular foreign universities.

Flight tickets, health insurance, education fees, and allowances to cover living costs are all included in the award. Students that are interested in applying should do so as soon as possible.

Scholarship Information

The Overseas Scholarship Plan was created for each academic session by the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), a federal government institution in Nigeria with the responsibility of building indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to satisfy the needs of the oil and gas industry.

The program was created to give applicants the chance to take use of a diverse body of knowledge and the resources provided by top schools throughout the world.

In accordance with it, candidates are asked to submit applications via PTDF to certain programs at partner institutions.

Scholarship Benefits

The possibility is for a postgraduate (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) degree program in oil and gas-related topics.

Location of Research

The course will be offered at PTDF partner universities in Malaysia, the UK, Germany, and France.

Eligibility Requirements

The following requirements must be satisfied by applicants in order to be eligible for the PTDF Overseas Scholarship:

  • Applications should only be submitted to PTDF partner universities in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, where it believes the high standards of the scholarship may be upheld and the goals of the program can be best met. Through the scholarship portal, a complete list of sponsored courses and an application gateway are provided.
  • Candidates must have finished the required National Youth Service (NYSC).
  • Candidates must be proficient with computers.
  • Before applying for the scholarship, applicants must have a National Identification Number (NIN), and verification is required (NIMC verification fees apply).

MSc basic requirements

  • a Second Class Lower (2.2) or Second Class Upper (2.1) certificate in their first degree with experience in the appropriate industry.
  • a minimum of five O/level credits, including English and math.
  • Statement of purpose (maximum 500 words) outlining the motivation(s) behind the proposed study, its applicability to the sector, and its anticipated effects on the growth of the country.

PhD requirements

an excellent second-degree certificate and a first-degree grade of at least Second Class Lower (2.2).

A five-page maximum study proposal that is pertinent to the oil and gas sector must contain the following information:

  • Title
  • Introduction
  • Research Problem
  • Aim
  • Research Questions/Objectives
  • Scope
  • Summarized Literature
  • Methodology
  • Expected outcomes only where necessary
  • All lecturers must produce a letter from their Vice Chancellors confirming that they are not in receipt of any other scholarships (if shortlisted).

Application Method

Only applicants who are exceptional in every way are chosen for PTDF scholarships since the application process is extremely competitive.

The most qualified candidates from each state will be called to an interview based on their qualifications, and a committee will be formed to evaluate applications based on the following standards:

  • Academic merit as evidenced by the quality of degrees, full academic transcripts, and other professional qualifications obtained
  • Relevant publications that the applicant should cite (PhD applicants only)
  • Professional organization membership
  • The feasibility of the study/research plan.

Documents Needed

Applicants are advised to scan and attach the following documents to their online application forms:

  • First Degree Certificate or Result Statement
  • Certificate of Discharge from NYSC
  • WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results and PINs on application forms to allow PTDF to view O’level results on the appropriate website.
  • Photograph from a Recent Passport
  • Letter of Identification from the Local Government
  • Certificate of Master’s Degree (PhD Applicants only)
  • Evidence of professional association membership
