As the Deputy Finance Manager, you will be working closely with the Field Finance Manager in the Finance Department. Your role will be to provide guidance and support to the Northeast Programs, ensuring they comply with the necessary procedures. You will also be responsible for managing finance functions in the deep field offices, supporting budget preparation, monitoring and forecasting, accounting function, and ensuring banking and cash management. Additionally, you will support management in ensuring adequate internal controls are in place to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, donor requirements, and Mercy Corps policies and procedures.
- Finance
You will work closely with the Roving Finance Officer to support finance in the deep fields and ensure weekly and monthly financial reports are submitted on time to Maiduguri. Furthermore, you will ensure standard operating procedures for cash transfers to deep fields are followed, review payment and other documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Mercy Corps’ policies, donor regulations, and local laws. Lastly, you will assist in the month-end accounting close process for the Northeast program, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the ledger, navigator, and all supporting documentation. You should have demonstrated competency with computerized general ledger software, strong computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly Excel, prior management experience, and strong organizational skills. Additionally, you should have excellent oral and written English skills, strong account and budgeting skills, in-depth understanding of major donor rules, regulations, and implications on budgeting and budget monitoring. You should have demonstrated experience and skill in budget preparation and presentation and proven ability to translate technical financial data into informative reports. Knowledge of Hausa is preferred, and working experience in Northeast Nigeria is a plus.
