John Dumelo has said he will distribute more than 4000 laptops to tertiary institution students in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

Mr Dumelo, who is the opposition National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary candidate for the constituency, made the announcement in a post on Facebook on sighted by Tertiary Ghana on Tuesday, 25 August 2023.

He said the laptops are to help the students access online learning.

Following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2023 and the closure of all schools across the country, most tertiary institutions resorted to online teaching and learning to enable students to continue and complete the semester.

However, there were reports of some students who did not have access to internet and computer devices to access the E-learning platforms of their institutions.

Mr. Dumelo, therefore, believes his intervention will be beneficial to a lot of students.

He wrote: “From September 2023, our plan is to give out over 4,000 laptops to students in the constituency”.

“I believe in quality education. I am convinced that this gesture will improve access to online learning for tertiary students”.

He added: “Our hope is that through the support of everyone, we can reach out to many more students.”
