Grading System for Perioperative and Critical Care Nursing

Below are the Grading System for Perioperative and Critical Care Nursing Programme. Students are required to obtain at least 50% of the total score in both the Continuous Assessment and the End of Semester Examination in order to pass a course.

Classification of Degree by CGPA

All semester examination results shall be taken into account in the computation of the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for the classification of the Bachelor’s degree. The CGPA shall be determined by using a weighted average of all repeated courses.

For instance, a 3-credit course with a ‘D’ at the first attempt and an A at the second attempt shall attract a total of 6 credits in the computation of the Grade Point Average.

Bachelor Degree Awarded

The Bachelor’s Degree shall be awarded First Class Honours, Second Class Honours (Upper Division), Second Class Honours (Lower Division), or Third Class Honours. A student who does not meet the standard for the Honours degree may be awarded a Pass Degree, provided his or her overall FGPA is not below 1.50.

Qualification for Degree Award

To qualify for an award of the School’s Bachelor Degree, a student must pass in each course.

Classification of Degree by CGPA

The classification of the undergraduate Degree is based on the value of the Final Grade Point Average (FGPA). All courses taken are included in the computation of the FGPA. Degrees shall be classified as follows:

Second Class Honours (Lower Division)                                           2.50 – 3.24

Fail                                                                                                    Below 1.50
