Dr. Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Education, has stated that the Free SHS policy will continue on the condition that the people of Ghana will keep the NPP government in power by voting for them in the coming election.

The Ministry of Education said this will be the only way for citizens of Ghana to continue enjoying the FREE SHS policy they started in the past years.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh in an interview on Jaman 103.7 FM monitored by Tertiatiary Ghana said the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) can not be trusted with the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.

He explained that the NDC in 2016 was against the FREE SHS and said the NPP will not be able to enforce it. And it is the same NDC that is saying they will come up with the FREE SHS policy and even include private schools in their plan.

According to him, He is so sure that when the NDC government comes into power, they will cancel most of the opportunities students are enjoying as evident by the number of student allowances they canceled when they came to power in 2014.

“So if Ghanaians vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the forthcoming general elections on December 7, 2021, then the Free SHS policy will be sustainable”, he told the host of the interview.
