Apply for Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Works

Young people are encouraged to apply for the Commonwealth Youth Awards 2022, which seek to honor and acknowledge young people throughout the Commonwealth who are making a difference in their communities.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II supports the Award through the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (QCT) to recognize young people who are leading effective, long-lasting development efforts in their communities.

The award aims to draw attention to the contributions that young people are making to the Commonwealth’s development efforts, particularly in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals. By inspiring, supporting, and challenging young people to set high standards for their work/service at community, national, regional, or worldwide levels, it also strives to create an atmosphere that will promote and sustain investments in youth-led development. The chosen recipient of the QCT rewards will also get coaching chances and support for organizational development in addition to two years of flexible funding at £20,000 annually.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Youth Awards 2022, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Must be a Commonwealth citizen
  • Be aged 18 to 29 years old
  • Must have been involved in development works for at least 12 months as a professional or volunteer.

Selection Criteria

Awards will be decided on the basis of:

  • Level of impact
  • Level of innovation/fresh approaches to problem solving
  • Quality of achievement
  • Quality of the evidence provided
  • Sustainability
