Tragic birthday party shooting in South Africa leaves eight dead and three injured.

The police reported that a mass shooting occurred at a birthday party in South Africa over the weekend, leaving eight people dead and three others injured.

The motive for the attack has not yet been identified, and it follows a series of similar incidents that shocked the country last year. Eastern Cape South African Police Service Commissioner Nomthetheleli Lillian Mene vowed to investigate the attack thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.

The two attackers carried out the shooting on Sunday afternoon in a house in Kwazakele, Gqeberha, killing Vusumzi and Andile Sishuba, two brothers who were celebrating Vusumzi’s birthday.

Two of the injured individuals are still hospitalized, while the third has been discharged. South Africa has one of the world’s highest murder rates, with an estimated 20,000 people killed annually out of a population of 60 million. There are approximately 3 million registered guns in the country, with an unknown number of unregistered ones, according to the campaign group Gun Free South Africa.

On Monday, Police Minister Bheki Cele visited the site of the shooting to show his support.
