The Christian Council collaborates with journalists on a peace project.

In order to enlist journalists’ assistance in fostering societal peace, the Northern Sector office of the Christian Council of Ghana has launched a project called “Promoting Peace through Inter-Faith Dialogue in Northern Ghana.” About 15 journalists from different Tamale Metropolis media outlets participated.

The project’s goal is to encourage religious tolerance among various religious and other interest bodies. Mr. Emmanuel Sumani Alhassan, Northern Sector Manager, Christian Council of Ghana, urged the journalists to collaborate and support the project to this end.

The project Promoting Peace through Inter-Faith Dialogue in Northern Ghana aims to foster unity for a peaceful society both in the northern region of the country and throughout the entire nation by promoting peace, tolerance, and respect among religious groups.

While the second phase of the project began this year and would end in February 2024, the first phase began in January 2023 and ended in December 2021.

“The Project, over the years, has been focusing on and assisting in sustainable peace and development among people in 10 selected communities in northern Ghana, specifically in the Tamale Metropolis, Sagnarigu, Tolon, Kumbungu, and some selected communities in the Savannah Region,” said Mr. Alhassan.
