Harvard Academy Scholars Program Eligibility
The Academy Scholars Program is accessible to scholars from all nations and citizenships who have recently finished or are nearing completion of a Doctorate or comparable doctoral program in the social sciences or law.
The Academy Scholars Program does not provide degrees. You are not eligible to apply for the Academy Scholars Program if you have not recently finished or are not presently enrolled in a PhD or comparable doctoral degree in the social sciences or law.
Predoctoral applicants must have completed all of their fieldwork and be well into the dissertation-writing process at the time of application, with a projected completion date of no later than 2022.
If you have already earned a Doctorate, it must have been earned no more than three years prior to our October 1 application deadline. You must have finished your Doctorate after September 30, 2023, in order to qualify for applications due on October 1, 2021.
On our interview date of December 3, 2021, finalists must be available for a face-to-face meeting. This interview may take place over Zoom or in person, depending on the state of the public health at that time.
If the interviews are in-person, The Harvard Academy will cover the costs of travel and lodging for the finalists to attend in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
The Harvard Academy Scholars Program’s advantages
- The annual salary for Postdoctoral Academy Scholars will be $70,000.
- If chosen before receiving their PhD, the Scholars will be paid a $35,000 stipend per year until they are.
- Research Trips, Research Assistants and Conferences is supplemented with the already provided salary.

How to Apply
The finished application will contain:
- Cover letter that briefly identifies the applicant’s academic discipline, nation or region of specialization, and intended area of study
- a resume or curriculum vitae (CV), along with a list of publications
- Research proposal with intellectual goals, proposed methodologies, and planned discipline work (2500 word cap).
- a copy of the transcript from your PhD program
- three recommendation letters (uploaded through the online application)
